On the occasion of the National Day of Made in Italy (April 15th), Opificio Modenese wants to share with you a project that is very important to us and on which we have been working for months.
We have decided to undertake the blockchain project in collaboration with the Italian Trade & Investment Agency (ICE), and why? To promote and protect our company abroad through the tracking of production chains. This allows us to gain a competitive advantage in foreign markets and provides an additional tool to promote our products.
Certification on the blockchain ensures organizations and consumers the maximum transparency and immutability of the information collected during the production process; the story of the supply chain, combined with images and additional information, allows us to communicate to the customer the added value that distinguishes the product, which may be the choice of raw materials or the processing technique.
What is it?
Blockchain is an advanced data collection mechanism that allows the sharing of information transparently. These are blocks of data (blocks) that are linked together with a chain (chain).
How does it work?
It’s simple. Once you purchase an Opificio Modenese garment, you’ll find a QR code on the label to scan. This will open a web page where the garment and the entire production process are notarized, certified, and immutable. Thanks to our technological partner Flosslab, we have created a digital showcase where the end consumer can verify the authenticity of the product, discover its production chain, and learn more about the company and the product they purchased. You will find our company profile and awards. There is also a section dedicated to all stages of production from research and development of the garment, 2D and 3D design and prototyping, to production, quality control, and shipping of the finished garment.
In summary, the three keywords of this project are:
- Transparency: because it allows us to share with you all the information related to our supply chain;
- Traceability: the blockchain tracks the entire journey of our garments from start to finish;
- Immutability: thanks to this technology, shared information cannot be altered, ensuring its permanent validity.
