Special focus on: garment dyeing! Discover with us at Opificio Modenese the origin and details of this process.
For the new Spring/Summer 2024 collection, Opificio Modenese drew inspiration from the wonderful coastlines of the United States. We want to illustrate one of the cornerstones of our creations.
As always in our collections, OPI[MO] supports a commitment to environmental sustainability, integrating eco-friendly research fabrics into its collection. This year, not only have we used Sensitive, the brand’s distinctive fabric, but also 100% natural fabrics such as hemp and nettle.
We have created our garments with four types of natural fabrics: “Raw,” 100% hemp; “Light,” 88% hemp and 12% cotton; “Natural,” 100% nettle; “Sporty,” 70% Tencel and 30% hemp.
Our garments are entirely made in Italy, starting directly from plant cultivation. Our supplier cultivates hemp and nettle, harvests them, and creates the yarn. Subsequently, the fabric is produced. Hemp and nettle are precious fabrics, using looms with ancient characteristics. Through innovative and patented processing methods, the fabric is washed, sewn, and dyed. With this approach, we preserve traditions while moving towards a more sustainable and conscious future.
The garments made with these fabrics are crafted with natural and sustainable fibers and dyed with natural pigments through a closed-loop process, largely based on rainwater. Once used, the water is recycled for subsequent dye baths.
What is garment dyeing:
Garment dyeing is the dyeing process of the garment after it has been sewn; all color irregularities are to be considered as characteristics of the garment.
Opificio Modenese has created Maui, Mirtle Beach, and Galveston in the “Raw” fabric.
In the “Light” fabric, we have created Coney Island, Corolla, Catalina Island, and Outer Banks.
OPI[MO] has created Morro Bay, Monterey, Siesta Key, and Kapalua in the “Natural” fabric.
Finally, in the “Sporty” fabric, we have created Cape Cod and Beaufort.
